The Three F's

I recently had the privilege to attend the Democratic Fashion Institute at the Georgia Young Dems Convention hosted by Emory University. I say privilege because I learned so much in a brief half-hour to hour session. The speakers stressed the importance of the 3 F's (Fs that I will never forget): Fabric, Fit, and Finish. These are the most important things to keep in mind when striving to be a put together Fashionista. So you may ask what does it mean to have fabric, fit, and finish? The  ladies stressed that with fabric it must be good quality. The best way to do the fabric test is to count how many stitches per inch in a piece of clothing; the smaller the count the better! With fit, it is important to know your inseam and to wear things that compliment your body type. Spanks or foundation wear are not a bad thing by the way! On to finish, you should examine clothes in great detail before saying "Oh this is cute" and running to the cash register. Make sure the clothes wear well and are appropriate for the occasion or season. Now keep in mind, these ladies were experts in campaign management and professional clientele so every piece of advice may not be applicable to daily styling; but they are definitely worthwhile tips to have stored in your fashion bank of knowledge. One last quick tip that I thought was extremely helpful was to turn your hanger hook the opposite way if it is out of season. If you come back to the hanger that is still turned around, that means you did not wear it and it's time to take a trip to the consignment shop to get rid of it. Move on with your life and enjoy some retail therapy to replace the item.
